KALBAJAR PROJECT

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the first residential complex in the city of Kalbajar, inspected the conditions created in the individual and multi-storey houses, and met with the residents who have been resettled here. Congratulating the people of Kalbajar, who returned to their homeland after 33 years, the President recalled the situation in which Kalbajar had been liberated. The Armenians leaving the area burned not only the houses, but even the forests.

“They destroyed this place, while we have built and created,” the President said, emphasizing his appreciation of Kalbajar’s new appearance. It should be noted that the first phase of construction and development works in the city of Kalbajar has been completed. The Kalbajar project is completely different from the Lachin project. No repair or restoration work was carried out here. Our builders demolished all remnants of old structures and built an entirely new city from scratch.

Reconstruction works across a 19.5-hectare area were carried out in accordance with Kalbajar’s master plan. The master plan prepared by Swiss architects consists of two phases. The first phase has been successfully completed, and 201 apartments have been delivered. Six 4-storey, 3-block residential buildings with a total of 162 apartments, as well as 39 two-storey, 3-room “Townhouse”-type homes have already been handed over to residents. Twenty families have already moved into their new homes.

In the second phase, 323 apartments will be delivered. Sixteen 4-storey residential buildings and 57 “Townhouse”-type houses will be offered. The four-storey buildings will feature underground parking areas, and German-made elevators will also be installed. Thus, by the end of the project, 524 families will be provided with housing. It should be recalled that large-scale construction in Kalbajar began on July 1, 2023. Currently, reinforced-concrete works are underway in the second phase of the residential neighborhood.

It is worth noting that, as in other projects carried out by the Baku Landscaping Service, the raw materials and construction materials used here comply with European standards. The durability of window systems manufactured in Germany is fully guaranteed. Overall, the Kalbajar project consists of architecturally unique structures. Two-storey residential buildings in the American style are being built in Azerbaijan for the first time.

It should be mentioned that landscaping and lighting works in the area are also being carried out by the Baku Maintenance Service. The process is still ongoing. This means that very soon, the housing issue of hundreds of people will be resolved, and the people of Kalbajar will return to their ancestral homeland and contribute to the revival of their land.
